Men's Engagement Rings: 5 Picks and What Sellers Mean by the Name

Verified with 21 sources

RingReel may earn a commission when you buy through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. Picks come from our research, never from payment. How we make money

Men’s engagement rings are sold under one name as three different things: a plain band, a band with a stone set into it, and a solitaire built around a center stone. Our overall pick is the With Clarity Classic Bevel Edged Men’s Engagement Ring, a bezel-set lab-grown diamond whose listed price includes the stone, and the five picks run from a tungsten band under $200 to a 2.10ct princess cut solitaire. Every figure below comes from the seller’s own page, read in September 2026. Whether men wear one at all is a separate question, and our guide to whether men wear engagement rings answers it.

Men’s Engagement Rings Compared

Read the setting and returns columns first. The setting decides how the ring lives on a working hand, and the returns column decides what happens if the size or the style is wrong. “Not stated” is literal: the seller’s own page does not publish that figure, and we did not fill the gap with a guess.

The Best Men’s Engagement Rings, Reviewed

Best overall

With Clarity Classic Bevel Edged Men's Engagement Ring

by With Clarity

Best for: A man who wants a real center stone held in a smooth metal rim, with the diamond already in the price.

With Clarity lists every metal option of this ring with a 1 1/2 carat lab-grown diamond included in the price, and holds it in a bezel, so the stone sits inside a smooth metal rim rather than on prongs.

What we like

  • The listed price includes the stone: every option on the page carries a 1 1/2 carat lab-grown diamond
  • A bezel, the setting GIA says is less likely to catch on clothing or gloves than prongs
  • Five metals, from 14K white or yellow gold to platinum

Keep in mind

  • At 3mm the band is narrower than the 5mm and up that Brilliant Earth gives as the usual men's width
  • With Clarity's warranty does not cover center stones on engagement rings
  • Sending the ring for resizing ends the 30-day return, under With Clarity's own policy

Best unconventional stone

Manly Bands The Brooklyn

by Manly Bands

Best for: A man who wants a stone that does not look like anyone else's, from a maker that sells mainly men's rings.

Manly Bands sells it by name as a salt and pepper diamond engagement ring, on a 2mm standard fit band that the seller itself advises taking off for heavy manual work.

What we like

  • Named and sold as an engagement ring by a men's ring maker, not a wedding band with a new label
  • A salt and pepper diamond, so the look of the stone differs from ring to ring
  • A full refund within 30 days of delivery, plus one size exchange

Keep in mind

  • The seller itself advises removing the 2mm band during heavy manual work
  • Engraved rings are final sale, so engrave only once the size is settled
  • The page names no setting type

Rings by Lux "Apollo" Flat Tungsten Carbide Ring

by Rings by Lux

Best for: A plain, heavy-looking band worn from the proposal, at a fraction of the price of anything with a stone.

Rings by Lux lists it in the collection it titles Men's Engagement Rings, while the product copy itself calls it a wedding band, which is an honest picture of what most men's engagement rings at this price are.

What we like

  • The lowest price on this page by a wide margin
  • Sold inside a collection the seller titles Men's Engagement Rings
  • Two widths, 6mm and 8mm, both in the usual men's range

Keep in mind

  • No stone, and the product copy calls it a wedding band
  • GIA says tungsten rings cannot be resized, so the size has to be right first time
  • The warranty lasts one year and allows one replacement, not a lifetime

Best big center stone

Rockford Collection VULTURE Comfort Fit Men's Solitaire Engagement Ring

by Rockford Collection

Rockford makes each ring per size and per order, and sells the same 2.10ct princess cut design with a lab-grown center at the bottom of its price range and a natural one at the top.

What we like

  • The largest center stone on this page, a 2.10ct princess cut
  • The same design in lab-grown or natural, which shows plainly how much the stone moves the price
  • Standard sizes 4 to 13, with a wider or thinner band on request

Keep in mind

  • A 14-day return, the shortest window on this page
  • Rockford says most of its rings are not resizable

What we like

  • Named a men's engagement ring by the seller, not borrowed from a band collection
  • Comes with a Tiffany Diamond Certificate whose accuracy Tiffany backs for life
  • Tiffany offers complimentary resizing on its engagement ring purchases

Keep in mind

  • The listing says non returnable, against the 30 days in Tiffany's own engagement ring FAQ

What We Left Out

How We Chose

What Sellers Actually Sell Under the Name

The name promises one product and the shelves hold three. Knowing which of the three you are looking at is most of the decision, because each one fails in a different way.

A Plain Band, Worn From the Proposal

At the low end, a men’s engagement ring is usually a wedding band sold early. Kay’s category page is titled “MEN’S ENGAGEMENT RINGS & WEDDING BANDS”, one heading for both. Rings by Lux, the first result for this search when we checked in September 2026, opens its Men’s Engagement Rings collection with “Men’s engagement rings are less traditional”, then fills it with tungsten and inlay bands; the Apollo listing inside it describes itself as “this wedding band”. That is not a trick, it is an accurate picture of what most men buy. The practical consequence is the second ring: decide now whether this band becomes the wedding band, because the difference between an engagement ring and a wedding ring is mostly a question of when each is given.

A Band With a Stone Set Into It

The middle of the market sets one stone into a men’s band, and it is where the seller’s own description matters most. With Clarity describes its Classic Bevel Edged ring as a “wide polished band that tapers towards the back” with the diamond “tightly held by a masculine, secure, and unobtrusive bezel setting”, and its Half Bezel Bevel Edged ring as a “bevel-edged shank that broadens toward the center stone”. Manly Bands sells The Brooklyn by name as a salt and pepper diamond engagement ring. These are the rings that read as engagement rings without looking like a woman’s solitaire.

A Solitaire Built Around a Center Stone

At the top, the stone is the ring. Rockford Collection’s VULTURE is a comfort fit solitaire around a 2.10ct princess cut, sold with a lab-grown center from Rockford Labs or a natural one, and the gap between the two prices is the clearest lesson on this page about what the stone costs. Tiffany’s Charles Tiffany Setting is platinum with an emerald-cut diamond, sold with a Tiffany Diamond Certificate and marked in-store only in its page data. Both are statement rings, and both come with the tightest return terms here.

Setting Height and Hands That Work

Four men's rings on dark slate, from a plain gold band to a bezel-set stone, the range of styles sold as men's engagement rings

A ring worn from the proposal is worn every day for longer than a wedding band, often at work. How high the stone sits decides whether it snags, and GIA publishes the consequence for each setting.

PickHow the stone sitsWhat GIA says about that setting
With Clarity Classic Bevel EdgedIn a full bezel, per the seller”the smooth edges are less likely to catch on clothing or gloves”
With Clarity Half Bezel (not a pick, same seller)In a half bezel with a v-shaped notchPartly protected; GIA publishes no separate line for a half bezel
Manly Bands The BrooklynSetting not named on the listingCannot be matched to a GIA line without the setting type
Rockford VULTUREA raised solitaireFor prongs, “their raised edges can sometimes catch on fabrics”
Tiffany Charles Tiffany SettingSetting not named on the listingCannot be matched to a GIA line without the setting type
Rings by Lux ApolloNo stoneNothing to catch, and nothing to lose

What GIA Says About Low Settings

GIA’s 2026 guide to ring settings is the one source here with nothing to sell. It says a flush setting’s low profile “makes flush settings highly durable and unlikely to catch on clothing or gloves”, and that a bezel’s smooth edges are less likely to catch, which it calls practical for people who work with their hands. The trade-off comes in the same guide: flush settings “allow less light to enter the stone than bezel or prong settings”, and flush-set rings “usually require wider and thicker shanks to safely accommodate the size and depth of the stone”. A low stone costs a little sparkle and adds a little metal.

When to Take It Off

Manly Bands says of its own 2mm Brooklyn that “removing it during heavy manual work is always a smart habit”, which is unusually candid for a product page and applies to any fine ring. A second, cheaper band for the working day is the common answer, and our comparison of men’s wedding bands for work covers the bands built for that job. The full setting-by-setting comparison lives in our engagement ring settings guide.

Width, Metal and Resizing

A men’s ring is often bought on a guessed size, as a surprise or before the couple has shopped together. That makes the metal’s resizing limit part of the price, and it differs sharply between the picks.

PickMetalCan it be resized? What ends the return
With Clarity Classic Bevel Edged14K or 18K gold, or platinumOne free resizing within 30 days, per With ClaritySending it for resizing, even inside the 30 days
Manly Bands The Brooklyn14K gold or platinumA size exchange in the first 30 days, per Manly BandsEngraving: engraved rings are final sale

Rockford VULTURE14K or 18K gold, or platinumRockford says most of its rings are not resizableThe 14-day window, and any size outside 4 to 13
Tiffany Charles Tiffany SettingPlatinumTiffany offers complimentary resizing on engagement ringsThe listing says the ring is non returnable

Band Width and Why It Changes the Size

Brilliant Earth’s 2026 ring width guide says men’s wedding bands are generally 5mm and wider, and that a wider band feels tighter than a narrower one in the same size, so a wide style may need half a size up. The Apollo comes in the usual widths. The With Clarity ring is 3mm and The Brooklyn is 2mm, both narrower than the usual men’s band, which can look slight on a large hand and fits a little looser than a wide band in the same size. Our guides to men’s band width and the men’s ring size chart cover measuring for each.

The Metal Decides Whether There Is a Second Chance

GIA’s 2025 table of everyday ring metals lists gold as resizable up to two sizes, platinum as expensive to resize, titanium as limited to half a size and tungsten as not resizable at all. That is why a tungsten engagement ring has to be right the first time, and why the exchange window matters more on it than on gold. Our wedding band metals compared table sets the metals side by side, and our tungsten wedding bands page covers the metal in full.

Men’s Engagement Ring vs Wedding Band

Nothing in the product itself separates the two. The same plain band can be given at the proposal and worn through the wedding, or joined later by a second ring, and every seller here leaves that choice to the buyer. What does differ is the purchase: an engagement ring is usually bought by one partner, on a guessed size and in secret, so the return window and the resizing terms matter more than they will for a band chosen together later. If he will wear both, how to wear an engagement ring and wedding band covers order and stacking.

Cheap Men’s Engagement Rings

The cheapest men’s engagement rings are bands without a stone, and that is a real option rather than a compromise. Rings by Lux sells the Apollo in tungsten under $200 inside its Men’s Engagement Rings collection. Add a stone and the price moves by an order of magnitude, as the gap between the Apollo and the stone-set picks shows. The stone is also where most of the money goes at the top: Rockford lists the same VULTURE design at $7,910 to $25,355: the low end is 14K gold with a lab-grown center, and the top of its options carries a natural 2.10ct center.

Two cautions at this price: the resizing limit of tungsten covered above, and a Rings by Lux warranty that runs one year with a single replacement, so the size and the return window carry more weight than the brand. For couples buying on a budget more broadly, our guide to what people actually spend on an engagement ring has the dated figures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is There an Engagement Ring for Guys?

Yes. Jewelers sell rings under exactly that name: Tiffany lists a men’s engagement ring in platinum, With Clarity and Manly Bands sell stone-set versions, and Kay runs a category for them. At the lower end the name is often attached to a plain band, so read the product description and not only the collection title.

How Much Should a Male Engagement Ring Cost?

No published rule sets a price, and no survey we could find measures what men’s engagement rings sell for. The picks on this page run from under $200 for a tungsten band to more than $25,000 for a natural 2.10ct solitaire, and the stone accounts for most of that spread.

Is There a Male Version of an Engagement Ring?

The closest thing is a man’s ring worn from the proposal, and sellers make it in three forms: a plain band, a band with one stone set into it, and a solitaire. Tradition fixes none of these, which is why the ring a man is given at the proposal is often the one he keeps wearing after the wedding.

Why Don’t Guys Get an Engagement Ring?

Mostly because the custom never took hold. JSTOR Daily (2017) calls a 1926 industry campaign to sell engagement rings to men a “colossal failure”, while the two-ring wedding ceremony took hold in the 1940s. Some men do wear one today, and our guide on whether men wear engagement rings covers that history.

Where Can I Buy Cheap Men’s Rings?

Alternative-metal specialists sell the cheapest, such as the tungsten bands under $200 that Rings by Lux files under men’s engagement rings. Mall jewelers like Kay sell plain men’s bands as well. Check the return window before the price, because at this level a wrong size is fixed by exchange rather than by resizing.
