• Rustic and Main. Its return policy is quoted below because it is the clearest statement anywhere of what sending one band back costs, but both of its his and hers set pages redirected to the homepage when we opened them on 14 September 2026, so we could not confirm either set is on sale.
• Manly Bands, Northern Royal and Larson Jewelers. All three sell men’s bands, and none had a matching women’s band or a pair listing we could open.
• My Trio Rings. Most of its sets include an engagement ring, which puts them on our bridal sets page rather than here.
• Jared, Kay and Zales. Kay refused our request for its pair listings with a 403 error, and we compared no pair from any of the three. Their return and warranty terms are quoted in our guide to where to buy engagement rings.

06Widths That Match: What the Sellers Actually Pair

A his and hers pair almost never means two bands of the same width. Brilliant Earth’s ring width guide sets out the usual ranges on each side: “Women’s wedding bands are generally 4mm or under”, while “Men’s wedding bands are generally 5mm and wider.” Every pair sold as one set on this page follows that convention, and no two sellers agree on the ratio.

The Proportions on Offer

Aquamarise calls its own pairing “the standard his-and-hers proportion for substantial tungsten wedding bands.” That is one seller describing its own set. Madera Bands and Foreverings ship a his band twice as wide as hers, Brilliant Earth’s example pair is three to one, and no standard we could find defines a proportion at all.

Matching Is the Profile, Not the Number

What makes two bands of different widths read as a pair is their shape: the same dome or flat top, the same edge and the same finish. 25karats lets each ring take its own finish, from high polish through satin, cross satin, wire and matte, so a pair can be mismatched by accident as easily as on purpose. Size Each Ring on Its Own Width

Width changes the fit, which is why two partners should never be sized on the same sample band. Brilliant Earth states that “a wider band will feel tighter than a narrower band in the same ring size.” A partner moving from a slim band to a wide one should be measured on a sizer of that width rather than on an old ring. Our printable ring sizer measures the finger; the correction for a wide band is a question to put to the seller before ordering.

07Price per Pair vs per Ring

A pair price means something only next to the two rings’ own prices, and most sellers print one or the other, never both.

The One Page That Shows Both Prices

Foreverings is the only seller that puts the arithmetic in front of you. Its pair page lists his ring from $179 and her ring from $169, next to the pair from $299, so the set saving is printed on the page rather than claimed. Aquamarise makes the claim without the numbers: “The set pricing offers a discount over purchasing the bands separately.” We could not find the two single listings to check it, and that is worth knowing before treating a set price as a saving.

When a Pair Is Two Orders

Brilliant Earth sells no pair for its plain bands, so a couple buys two listings. In 18K yellow gold the widths priced here run from $590 to $1,290 per ring, with no discount for buying both. 08Two Rings, Two Sizes

Two partners rarely share a ring size, so the order form matters more than it looks. Aquamarise answers the question on its own product page: “each band should be ordered in the size that fits its wearer”, and “Use the size selectors on the product page to choose each size independently.” 25karats builds the whole listing around it, with a “Customize Her Ring” panel and a “Customize His Ring” panel, each with its own ring size from 4 to 15 in quarter sizes.

When One Size Turns Out Wrong

Here the sellers differ more than anywhere else. Foreverings offers “Free size exchanges on both rings”, sending “a brand-new ring in the right size, with a prepaid return label for the old one.” Madera Bands states that “Exchanging a ring is an easy process and free”, and offers an “unsure- mail sizer first” option at checkout for couples who do not yet know their sizes. Staghead Designs gives one free resize, but only “If our ring sizing kit is used with your ring purchase.” 25karats offers free resizing up to one size within 60 days.

Tungsten and Titanium Are Exchanged, Not Resized

Three of the six pairs are tungsten, and the Castor can be ordered in titanium, which changes what a wrong size means. Staghead Designs states that rings in tungsten or titanium “cannot be resized in the same way as traditional metals like gold and silver, as they cannot be cut and re-soldered”, and allows only that “very small adjustments (up to approximately ¼ size) may be possible.” On those pairs the exchange policy is the resizing policy, so read it before the price. 09Different Metals That Still Match

Nothing requires the two bands to be the same metal, and two sellers here build the choice into the order. 25karats offers her ring in white, yellow or two-tone gold, and his ring in five combinations including striped white and yellow, so one pair can be plain yellow for her and white-yellow-white for him. Staghead Designs sells the Castor in titanium, black zirconium, Damascus steel, silver or 14K gold, each with a 14K gold inlay, and a couple orders it twice in two metals.

What Changes When the Metals Differ

Brilliant Earth’s advice on pairing rings is written for two rings on one finger, but its reason travels: “Different metal types and karat weights wear at different rates.” It adds, “For gold rings, choose the same karat weight regardless of color”, and warns that “platinum is denser than gold and can scratch a gold band over time.” On two different hands the scratching point falls away and the wear point does not. A pair that matched on the wedding day will age at two speeds if the karats or the metals differ.

Plated Is Not Solid

Two of the budget pairs have a gold color that is not solid gold. Madera Bands describes its pair as “14k Gold Plated Tungsten”, and Aquamarise sells its moss agate set as tungsten in black and rose gold colors. A plated surface and a solid gold band will not age the same way, and no seller on this page publishes how long its plating lasts. If the gold has to stay gold, the entry point here is solid 10K from 25karats or a single 18K band from Brilliant Earth.

10Returning or Exchanging Just One Ring

A pair is two rings and one purchase, and most return policies were written for one ring. Here is what each seller publishes, read on 14 September 2026.

The Restocking Fee Is Per Band

Rustic and Main is the one seller that puts a price on sending a band back, and it charges it per band: “Because each band is made to order, a restocking fee covers the labor and materials that go into preparing it for resale.” The fee runs from $150 to $600 depending on the metal, lowest for wood, titanium and silver and highest for 18K gold. Aquamarise charges 20% on solid gold and platinum refunds and states that “There are no restocking fees on sterling silver, vermeil, Damascus steel, titanium or tungsten carbide.” On a gold pair, ask whether the fee also applies to an exchange for size before you order.

Engraving Ends the Return

Engraving is the common trap on a pair, because couples often engrave both rings at once. Madera Bands makes engraved and personalized items final sale, Foreverings lists engraved items as final sale, and Staghead Designs counts “adding a personal engraving” as custom. Engrave after both sizes are confirmed, not before.

Staghead’s Size Limit and Its Custom Rule

Staghead Designs accepts returns on non-custom rings within 30 days of delivery, provided the ring “is above a size 5 or below a size 13.” Read literally, that wording covers every size; we read it as a range from 5 to 13, and a couple with one size outside it should get Staghead’s answer in writing first. The larger of the two sizes is the one most likely to fall outside that range. Its FAQ also defines custom as “altering the item in any way, including altering the width, material, adding a personal engraving”, and custom rings are final sale. The Castor lists its widths and metals as options, but that wording is wide enough that we would get written confirmation that picking a listed option does not count.

Three of the six pairs sit under $500, and all three are tungsten carbide, which is not a precious metal: Aquamarise from $233.95, Foreverings from $299 and Madera Bands from $359 for the pair, read on 14 September 2026. The trade-off is the one above, an exchange instead of a resize, so a free size exchange matters more on these three than on any gold pair. Foreverings and Madera Bands both offer one; Aquamarise gives a single complimentary exchange within its 14-day window. For solid gold the least expensive route on this page is one narrow 18K band from Brilliant Earth from $590, or a 10K pair from 25karats from $2,016.
